Summary:With the increase in Cr content, the wear resistance and high temperature resistance of the bimetallic wear resistant steel plate surfacing layer are improved

With the increase in Cr content, the wear resistance and high temperature resistance of the bimetallic wear resistant steel plate surfacing layer are improved, but the wear resistance of the surfacing layer decreases when the Cr content reaches 20%. The reason is that the number of hard phase (Cr7C3、Cr23C6 formed by Cr and C) has risen when Cr content increases, but the wear resistance decreased if there is a higher Cr content, as there is a tendency to produce brittle hard phase.

But for Nb and Mo, Mo can refine grain and reduce temper brittleness, while Nb help to refine grain and improve the strength and toughness of surfacing layer, and also form hard phase with hardness HV2400.

On the other hand, the hard phase formed by Nb and Mo has high melting point also distributes and disperses, which makes the hardfacing alloy has high temperature strength and small brittleness, is beneficial to improve the high temperature wear resistance.
