The second generation of wear resistant materials is Ni hard cast iron and appeared after 1930. We added 3-5% Ni and 1.5- 3.5% Cr to ordinary white cast iron, and mainly applied to vertical mill. It has high hardness, good wear resistance, but the low hardness and toughness and high cost, so it has gradually withdrawn from wear resistant materials market.

The third generation of wear-resistant material is high chromium cast iron and alloy steel. High chromium cast iron is an excellent performance, can be used as small and medium sized mill lining plate, small hammer crusher, wear resistance performance is better than alloy steel and has strong toughness than white iron, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
