According to China Engineering Academy Consulting Project (Application and development strategy study of tribological science), estimates for the losses caused by  friction, abrasion as high as 9.5 billion, financial loss can be avoided by using the anti-wear and anticorrosion measures.

The statistical shows that 10% of world steel were loss due to corrosion, 70% mechanical and electrical products failure belong to the corrosion and wear. One third of disposable energy are rapidly wasted by friction, about 80% of the machine parts failure are caused by abrasive wear. All this make it clear that domestic scientific and technological level compared with the developed countries are still far, still a long and arduous task. Therefore, promotion of surface technology has vast importance to the resources - economical society.
